Saturday 27 April: guided walks at 10:30 and 13:00

Discover Crosby Garrett, a traditional Westmorland village that has hardly changed in centuries.

To one side of the village is a high viaduct that takes the Settle to Carlisle railway through the disused Crosby Garrett station with the fell behind. At the other end of the village on a raised elevation is the church of St. Andrew. With its Anglo-Saxon origins this church has later additions and the graveyard was extended in the 1930s. Crosby Garrett originally boasted churches of three faiths: Church of England, Baptist and Methodist. The Methodist Chapel built in 1882 united with the Baptists when their chapel closed in 1992 and is now known as the United Chapel.

Two guided walks with local experts will explore the village and the immediately surrounding countryside. Both walks will leave the Village Hall at 10:30 and 13:00 so you can choose to join one or both as well as enjoying refreshments at the Village Hall, in the building which was formerly the Village School. No need to book. Transport timetable here
