Event Day(s):
Saturday 27 July, 09:15, meet in Kirkby Stephen Market Square for transport
Lady Anne’s Way, Mallerstang from The Thrang to Pendragon Castle and Outhgill. About 4 miles, easy, includes stiles, some uneven ground and some boggy sections in wet conditions. Numbers are limited and booking is essential: waw@uppereden.org.uk
Due to the road closure at Hazelgill from 22 July, we have amended this route to explore the valley bottom and attractions and will not now include The Highway and The Watercut.
The walk starts at the bottom of The Highway and then roughly follows the infant River Eden to Pendragon Castle where we will spend 15 minutes resting and exploring the picturesque ruins. We will then walk back to the pretty hamlet of Outhgill to see Faraday House, Andy Goldsworthy’s Pinfold and the Jew Stone. There will be a talk at St Mary’s Church to finish the walk before returning to Kirkby Stephen. Points of interest and information along the way.
Walking boots essential and please bring a drink.
